Band... Now read this!!

The District Honor Choirs ware rehearsing and performing at PHS this weekend. The 3 groups will be in the auditorium, choir room and band rehearsal hall. As such, all band classes and FAMA (fine arts) will meet in the old bandroom. Please pass the word. You will need a PENCIL!! You do not need your instrument (it should ALREADY be home, right?!?!?).

Winterguard Spin-A-Thon is still on for Friday night Saturday morning.

No word yet on plans to reschedule District Honor Band; waiting to hear from the district director. May take a few days to coordinate with SLU and everyone's band calendars.

Tomorrow is a Jeans Day! Bring you dollar.

Band... Now read this!!

Welcome back from "Snow Day!"  Keep your mittens handy as we may get another round of cold weather this week. It is WINTER, after all!

Check the TWIB board. Crucial Sectionals for Brass and Woodwinds this week.Percussionists: attendance for ASR is not mandatory; we will take care of your sectional work in class. If you do stay after school for band ASR, you must participate fully in rehearsal!

On Thursday, there will be a volunteer meeting for Joseph's movie project. See the poster in the classroom. Please sign up, if you pan to attend, so I can make "catering" plans!

1st period, let's finish strong for "Penny Power". Bring in your "coins" for this worthy cause. It's about more than a doughnut party!

WG, we need to pass a wet mop over the floor and mat this week. Still putting out too much baby powder in the gym. And gear up for Spin-A-Thon!

SCALES: The Tuesday Texas-style  Scales test/check-off will be moved to THURSDAY this week, due to Snow Day. And will be reassigned the following wee to every recurring WEDNESDAY, to coincide with Academic Day schedules.

Thank you to the volunteers who showed up for the 8th grade parent night. Short and sweet; cold too!

Remember that the Disney deposit date, to become current, has been extended to Monday, 27 Jan, due to "Snow Day!" this past Friday.

24 Jan Honor Band Update

Band Directors:

SLU is closed until Monday. We are canceling honor band for the weekend and will work on trying to reschedule this event. Please contact all of your students and let them know. This information will be posted on the district website as well.

Snow Day

BAND...Now Read THIS!!!

Due to the school closure today for inclement weather, there will be no extra-curricular activities. this includes District Honor Band at SLU, Winterguard sectionals, and the volunteer Pep band for the Basketball game. Honor band participants must check the LMEA District 9 website. The Chairman will post an announcement after 4:00 PM , with updated instructions and announcements forthe Honor Band Weekend. "Snow Day" ends in "y", so GHAP!! Stay warm, stay safe!

All-South Announcement

Band... now read this!! Congratulations to Joshua and Tyler, who were accepted into the 2014 All South Honor Bands. This is quite an honor. The annual " All-South Honor Bands" are usually comprised of some of the top High School musicians primarily from the southeast, primarily Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida. Following the live, always intense chair placement auditions, the pool of student-musicians will be divided into 3 performing ensembles. Rehearsals begin on a Thursday evening, and continue through Saturday afternoon. The weekend closes went a spectacular concert . This all takes place on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. Again, Congrats!

Disney Information

IMPORTANT DISNEY INFORMATION: All Disney Payment Forms are complete and will be handed out by Mr Square Wed & Thurs. Your child should bring home an envelope with a letter inside NO LATER than Thursday! PLEASE ASK FOR IT! Deadlines are included on the form. There will be NO EXTENSIONS for missed deadlines. We are coming down to the end, so please check your balances & get your payments in on time. If your students account is not current they WILL be cut from the trip. GUARD going on trip, please make a trip to the band room so you can pick up your envelope and deliver to your parents in a timely manner. THANK YOU!!!

Kudos to Josh, Alto Sax and Kyle, Drum Set, for representing PHS and Tangipahoa Parish in the District Jazz Band Auditions. And to Peyton R., on trombone from PJHS! Kyle and Peyton will and perform with the District Honor Jazz Bands in February! Way to go!

Remember that the MWR crew has planned a funtime for everyone this Friday evening at the 19452 Bandroom Winter party (Post-Hoildays, Carnival Season, karaoke, etc.). Be there!!

Disney Trip Payments

PARENTS OF BAND AND COLOR GUARD,

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FULL PAYMENT OF DISNEY IS DUE NO LATER THAN MARCH 5th. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENDED DEADLINES. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR YOUR TRIP IN FULL, THEN YOU WILL MERELY BE HAVING SPENDING MONEY. THIS DEADLINE WILL NOT INCLUDE CRAWFISH DINNERS. IF YOU ARE COUNTING ON THE FUNDS TO PAY FOR SOME OF THIS COSTS, THAT WILL NOT BE HAPPEN AS THE DINNER IS AFTER THE DEADLINE. THANK YOU.

Disney payments and Booster meeting

Happy New Year!  A great year it will be!  This is a reminder that all Disney payments are due January 3rd.  However, because the kids do not return to school until the 6th, we will extend PAYMENTS DEADLINE to the 7th.  Please make all efforts to get your payments in.

 Also, reminder, we will have our next booster meeting on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.  Please make arrangements to attend.  I know you have not received the minutes from the last meeting.  This will be going out this weekend.  Sorry about the lateness of this project.  Thank you.
