I know I told everyone to wear summer uniforms, but I have changed my mind.

We are wearing our new uniforms - FULL DRESS!

Black band shoes

Black socks (no ankle socks)

white T-shirts

Green visors

28 Sep Bandboree in Lafayette Information

Band... Now read this!!

Here is the detailed information for Bandboree! Please read it carefully. I will make this available as a handout, so that you can have a hardcopy. We will go over the information on Thursday, 26 Sep.

Bandboree: Saturday 28 Sep 2013

What is it? Jamboree for Marching Band. A chance to perform "Pre-Season" before the October Contest/Competition season. An opportunity to interact with MB programs from the greater Acadiana Area. We are the only Tangipahoa Parish School Band that participates in this style of marching band activity.

When-Saturday September 28, 2013  from 10:30 am to midnight

Where-This event takes place at

Lafayette HS, 3000 W. Campus Street Lafayette, 70506 

How- Travel will be by three buses and two trucks/trailers

Why- Pre Season Performance (We have 3 festival/competition events in October)    Provides assessment to help prepare for successful MB festival/ Contest Season     There is no such event in our area.

 Schedule

10:30 A.M.  Report to PHS BRING A LUNCH!!  (Winterguard auditions will be in progress; follow instructions; run through w/ prerecorded music; dress; load depart)

12:30           Depart

2:30             Arrive in Lafayette; FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!

3:00             Dress/Warm-up

3:45             Mass Band Rehearsal on Field (Hey Baby)

4:45             All-Schools Seniors: SSB Rehearsal

5:15             Opening Ceremony: Star-Spangled Banner by All-Schools Seniors

5:30             SHOWTIME! for PONCHATOULA!! We Perform!

Band Performances continue every 15 minutes. Order of bands: Rayne, Loreauville, Kaplan, New Iberia, Westgate, Acadiana, Delcambre, Carencro, Erath, Abbeville, North Vermillion, St. Thomas More, and Lafayette.

9:00             Mass Band Performance of Hey, Baby!

9:30             Dance Party begins and ends promptly at 10:15 for us!!

Midnight     Arrive Home at PHS

Fundraiser Update

SO, we have great news!

Fundraising:

Sunday, September 29, 2013 - AutoZone car wash CONFIRMED! This will be held from 12:00p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Students please sign up through our website so that I have an accurate count. Parents, if you would like to chaperone, I would only need a few (3-4). The car wash will be $5 per vehicle. The buckets, sponges, washing solution and tire solution will be provided by AutoZone. Thank you AutoZone.

Also, (ANTIQUE TRADE DAYS WEEKEND) - Sunday, November 3, 2013 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. play music for donations (in vacant area next to Ponchy Feed Store) CONFIRMED! We will have a table set up with donation buckets and PHS cups with goodies to hand out to supporters. Please mark your calendar for yet another fundraiser. Thank you Ponchy Feed.

If you are not exhausted yet, please let me know - LOL!

I am trying not to burn out the kids and/or the parents, but fundraising is necessary to keep your costs low. All hands on deck is greatly appreciated from ALL of you! We have had a slow start, but the saying is that "Slow and Steady" wins the race. Thank you.

UNPAID BAND FEES

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING BAND FEES IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please be advised that your child is delinquent on his/her band fees....

If at least 50% of the unpaid balance is not paid by October 20, 2013, the band fees will be turned into the office and your child will be placed on the fines list. This will prohibit your child from purchasing homecoming dance tickets and/or from attending the homecoming dance and other school activities, including graduation.

If 50% of band fees are not paid, your child also may not audition for the winter guard team.

Your child's band fees must be paid in full by April 1, 2013. If the band fees are not paid, in full, by this deadline your child will not be allowed to attend the Disney trip, regardless of funds paid towards the trip, and your security deposit will not be refunded.

If you need to make payment arrangements or are having difficulties, please contact Melissa Eldridge or myself and we can discuss other options. We are willing to work with you as long as you are making continued efforts to make payments. We cannot help you if you don't let us know or you don't make any efforts to pay these band fees.

As you know we have two separate fundraisers going on this Sunday, September 29th

1. Winn Dixie - play music for donations (10-2) and

2. AutoZone - Car wash (12-4)

Please keep checking your emails and FB for updates. Although these are scheduled, the rain may cause cancellations. If this happens, these fundraisers will be rescheduled at a later date. Thank you.

La Carreta Fiesta Card Fundraiser

Car Wash Fundraiser - Trip Related

Band/Color Guard Members - Car Wash Sunday, September 29, 2013 at AutoZone in Ponchatoula from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (4 hours). These time are to try and work around church.

Parents/Guardians - Car Wash service hours. If you are interested in working this car wash, please let me know so we can get you signed up. I cannot be in two places at the same time, I will need parent volunteers. The Winn Dixie fundraiser is also this date from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. After Winn Dixie, I can come by the car wash.

Cookie Dough Delivery

Band.... Now read this!!

I have gotten confirmation from the delivery driver that our cookie dough products will arrive between 11 am. and 1 pm. Please give us time to lay everything out in numerical order by boxes. You can begin picking up orders around 2 pm. (earlier if the driver arrives closer to 11). I will send out another message through Charms when it arrives.

Kudos to all of you who participated in the LMEA All-State 1st Round auditions. This process is the definitive "high stakes testing" in my book! All of you played very well, and thank you for representing our band family, school, and community. See me for your score sheets.

Thank you to Lacey Miller's family for donating the piano to the band. WARNINGS:

OPEN HOUSE after ASR. PLEASE help with clean-up. Bring your folks by the Bandroom.

New Wavette tune this week is "In My House!" We will add Service Songs to the Pre-game line-up. Be sure to get Parish and District Honor Band excerpts from me, if you did not already do so. Be sure to make certain that you have the correct set for this current school year. Grunts, I'll help you select your Fall Semester solo later this week.

Great week and good 1st Friday night are behind us. Let's gear up for our 3 Home-game stretch and an end-of-the-month road trip to Lafayette for "Bandbooree"! Tomorrow, we'll be busy with Pre-game, The Star-Spangled Banner, and Into the Light Drill. Looking forward to it.

Boosters Meeting tomorrow evening, 9 Sep, at 6 pm.

Sept 3

Band.... Now read this! 

Here is a reminder that we have ASR tomorrow, since we were out today (Monday) for Labor Day. Be sure to bring REHEARSAL clothes... it will be hot just like band camp! 

We start the regular Varsity Football season this Friday with a road trip vs. Jesuit (New Orleans). You must follow the instructions from Captains Tiffany and Miranda to sign up for a bus seat. This will be your seat for the SEASON! Choose well! 

It would be a great idea for you to write your name inside your performance shoes and be responsible to keep up with them!!! 

YOU MUST TAKE 2 bottles of water with you to the field (carry this in your tool belt)! You will need this for water break.

DISNEY DEPOSITS and FORMS are DUE!!! Please use the Drop Box outside of my office door to turn in your information and remittance.
